Friday FAQs #1 - July 9, 2021
Welcome to the first installment of Friday FAQs! Every Friday I post the answers to the most frequently asked questions I've received from residents I have talked to this week. Have a question? Send it in my website's live chat and I'll get back to you ASAP!
How do you pronounce your last name?
Bar-oh-see-oh. Just call me Jesse.
What do you think about Surf 'n Swim?
About 60% of Surf 'n Swim's expenses come out of the city's general fund. The rest is paid for using entry and rental fees. For comparison, Clearfield only subsidizes about 30% of their aquatic center's budget. I'm not opposed to spending money on the pool, but I do think we should be looking for a way to make it more self sufficient and upgrading what needs to be upgraded.
When are we going to get a dog park?
This has been talked about for ages! During college I actually wrote a feasibility study on building a dog park in Layton. I think there is finally enough community interest to make this happen. The biggest barrier now is finding the money for construction and ongoing maintenance. Converting a portion of an existing city park would be a way to save money. Some communities charge a low annual fee for residents who want to use the park in order to pay for the ongoing maintenance costs.
I saw your signs around town. Why are they so orange?
To match my truck, of course! If you'd like a sign in your yard please fill out this form and I'll drop one off.
