Support Local Business

Supporting Local Builds the Economy

Studies show that every dollar spent at a local independent business, on average, generates at least three times more direct local economic benefit than a dollar spent at a big box store or chain. That means for every $100 spent at a locally owned business, approximately $64 remains in the local economy.

Supporting Local Funds City Services

About half of the sales tax you pay in Layton goes directly to funding essential services like police and fire protection, roads and public works projects, and many more. The more money you spend in Layton the more funds the city has to improve services. About half of the city’s general fund revenue comes from sales tax.

We Should be Promoting Layton Businesses

On the council, I will work with business owners and the city’s Community and Economic Development department to ensure all businesses, whether big or small, continue to maintain and grow their market share.
